JOB SUMMARY

Concrete Mixer Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Concrete Mixer. To ensure that the mixture is of correct consistency and that the concrete is properly cured. The Operator must maintain the equipment as well as clean the mixing apparatus to ensure that it is in proper working conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Operation

• Drives truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement, and water and starts mixer
• Drives truck to location for unloading
• Moves levers on truck to release concrete down truck chute into wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete
• Cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck
• Sprays surfaces of truck with protective compound to prevent adhering of concrete
• Assembles cement chute
• Performs daily pre and post trip of vehicle
• Keeps mixers and mixer levels clean of powder, pellets and debris.
• Clean mixers and materials for product changes and shutdowns
• Able to follow safety procedures and work in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Performs routine maintenance and repairs on the machines
• Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning
• Conduct prestart and post start checks to ensure safe operations
• Check and adjust operating settings for the mixer
• Operate and maintain the concrete mixer machinery.
• Performs Other duties as assigned

• Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.
• Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
• Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Std 8/Grade 10/Junior Certificate of Education
• Driver’s License Code EC with valid PDP / Operator Experience in operating Heavy Equipment
• Specialised training with cited machinery,
• Certification in operating the machine
• Minimum 5 plus years’ experience within the road construction industry
• 5 plus years’ experience operating a Concrete Mixture is required
• The successful completion of a medical evaluation
• Knowledge of Concrete Mixer and other heavy equipment.
• Knowledge water infrastructure construction, Bulk water construction processes and industry requirements. Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
• Experience with WTP, Water Retaining structures, Pumpstations, Reservoirs and Pipeline.
• Salary: To be negotiated
